The Trump Administration announced $7.2 million in funding to modernize emergency medical services across South Dakota, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said.

The funding will support 25 projects led by local ambulance services, hospitals, and community organizations. The projects will expand ambulance-based telemedicine, fund EMS workforce training, improve how emergency crews share patient data with hospitals, and modernize dispatch and communications systems, according to the agency.

The investment is part of the larger Rural Health Transformation Program, which was funded through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. South Dakota is expected to receive over $189 million from the program over the next five years, according to the announcement.
