Motorcycle strikes delivery truck, rider seriously injured on Route 44

A motorcycle operator was seriously injured on September 10 after striking a delivery truck on Route 44 in the Town of Washington, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said.

The collision occurred at approximately 1:10 p.m. at the intersection of Route 44 and Kennels Road. According to preliminary investigation, a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Route 44 when a delivery truck in the same direction made a left turn onto Kennels Road. The motorcycle struck the truck, and the motorcycle operator was ejected and struck a nearby utility pole.

The motorcycle operator was initially transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital and later transferred to Westchester Medical Center. The truck operator was uninjured.

The Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit are continuing the investigation. The New York State Police, Millbrook Fire Department, and Empress EMS assisted at the scene.
